Your safety on this forum is very important to us. We will try very hard to make sure that this forum is as safe as we can possibly make it for fans of all ages to come to and enjoy. And as we have been priviledged to welcome so many great new members here lately, we thought it would be appropriate to list a few helpful guidelines that can help you stay safe from any Internet hazards that you might come upon. 1.) NEVER EVER give out personal information about yourself, like your address or phone number to someone on the Internet. No matter how friendly they may seem, you don't know their intentions. 2.) Beware of Posers. These people are all over the Internet. We will not let them entertain themselves at your expense here, but you should be aware of them. To use Jeremy as an example, there are and have been many many people on AIM, MSN, Yahoo, MySpace, ICQ, various message boards, and any other chat service you can think of that are impersonating him. NONE OF THEM ARE REAL. Jeremy is aware of the poser problem concerning him and chooses to only interact with his fans through scheduled chats and updates in the InterAction area of his official website, www.jeremysumpter.com. His friends and family are aware of the problem too. If you meet anyone claiming to be Jeremy, Jeremy's sister, Jeremy's friend, or Jeremy's third cousin's uncle's mother-in-law...they are fake. Jeremy's friends and family simply know better. They want you to be safe and not believe these posers. Many of these posers will do their homework and can be quite convincing. They are not only capable of knowing all of the public facts that are available about him, but they are also very capable of monitoring boards like this to see what you are saying and speculating about him. They will try and create a character that is not only convincing in terms of facts, but also convincing in terms of what your desires are for a personality. They'll tell you everything you want to hear. Most of them are harmless and only seeking attention. But some of them could be predators that will use your love and desire to interact with your favorite star to get close to you. Don't be scared about this. Just be aware of it. They have no power over you if you simply don't believe them. 3.) Tell a moderator right away if you come across any information that makes you feel uncomfortable in any way. Do not respond to any messages that are mean or in any way make you feel uncomfortable. It is not your fault if you get a message like that. If you do, DO NOT delete it. Save it, and immediately notify a moderator. 4.) Beware of spammers - people who come on to try and sell items or get you to their website where they are selling items. This is not a place for them to sell or advertise products. If you see a spammer on the board, please report the post and we will remove them. Once again, this message was not meant to frighten anyone. We just want to arm you with as much common sense about these situations as possible.
